Chapter II - Russification of Windows 2000
II. Reading Russian text
Russification of your internet browser
Russification of MS Windows:
Windows 2000 is so much better susceptible to Russification than Windows 95/98. It has build it native Cyrillic support which just needs to be enabled. These instructions apply to whole Windows 2000 family (Professional, Server, etc.) You will want to russify Windows if you have some program that has Russian menus or for ICQ. Also you will be able to read Russian text saved in regular TXT files or in MS Word. Before we start you will need original Window 2000 Installation CD.
Go to START - SETTINGS - CONTROL PANEL
In the Control Panel double-click on Regional Options.
In General portion check Cyrillic and click Set as Default (see picture below)

You either will be asked to insert Windows 2000 Installation CD or it will tell you what you already have all the necessary fonts, and can just install them from Hard Drive. In any case follow with what is suggested. You will need to reboot your computer.
