Chapter II - Russification of Windows 2000

II.  Reading Russian text

  1. Internet Explorer

  2. Netscape Communicator

  1. Windows 95/98

  2. Windows ME

  3. Windows 2000

  4. Windows XP

Windows 2000 is so much better susceptible to Russification than Windows 95/98. It has build it native Cyrillic support which just needs to be enabled.  These instructions apply to whole Windows 2000 family (Professional, Server, etc.) You will want to russify Windows if you have some program that has Russian menus or for ICQ.  Also you will be able to read Russian text saved in regular TXT files or in MS Word.  Before we start you will need original Window 2000 Installation CD.

You either will be asked to insert Windows 2000 Installation CD or it will tell you what you already have all the necessary fonts, and can just install them from Hard Drive. In any case follow with what is suggested.  You will need to reboot your computer.
